The DC Open was held alongside Days 2 and 3 of the 2019 World Championships. The event was open to players who did not qualify for Worlds as well as Worlds competitors who were eliminated on Day 1. The tournament was split into two flights and there was no top cut for either flight; the final standings were determined by Swiss results. Seven Swiss rounds were played on the first day of the Open, with the final two Swiss rounds played on the second day (concurrent with the World Championship finals).
